Smart Travel Tips - The Coast & Islands

Make your trip a safe and enjoyable one. Please observe the following recommendations and regulations:

  • Most beaches and coastal resorts get very crowded during national holidays. Plan your vacation with this in mind.

  • Always wear sun protection when planning to spend long periods of time outdoors. Sun overexposure can have a long term harmful effect on your health.

  • Please follow the nature conservation rules, as established by INPARQUES, when camping in national parks and other designated areas.

  • Only set camp in designated areas, and do not cut trees to make campfires.

  • When using 4-wheel drive vehicles, avoid opening new trails; this has a negative impact on the vegetation and nests and burrows of birds and wild animals.

  • When photographing wildlife, avoid scaring them away, as this may leave their offspring vulnerable to sun exposure and other dangers.

  • "Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints." Trash is one of the biggest enemies of the environment.

  • Please respect the norms and customs of the local people.
