Ciudad Bolívar and Vicinity

Southeastern Venezuela
In the state of Bolívar you'll find nature, history, and progress taking center stage. This area extends from the southern shores of el Rio Orinoco, through vast plains and jungle, to the border with Brazil. The Guri dam is the most important hydroelectric complex in the country. Leaving the city of Puerto Ordaz, Los Castillos de Guayana stand as reminders of Venezuela's colonial past and the struggles against pirates and other fortune seekers. Traveling south to the town of Santa Elena de Uairén, you will experience a landscape like no other on earth: seemingly endless panoramic vistas, rivers of multiple colors, indian villages, jungle, and the mystical tepuys.
